ABOUT
ME

I was born and raised in beautiful Addis Ababa,
capital city of Ethiopia, by my grandfather, who was an orthodox priest
and also my mentor. Most of what I know about Ethiopian history came
from him, as he used to collect many historical and religious books and
was keen to pass his knowledge on to me. During the summer break from
school, my task was to read a certain number of books selected by my
grandfather, and thereby make good use of my free time. My grandfather
died in 2000 and for a short while I thought I would follow in his
footsteps, but instead I decided to move on to something different.
Now, I am a student in Haramaya University studying for a BA in
Management. Before this, I graduated from Royal University College in
2011 with a Marketing Management, and from the Catering &
Tourism Training Institute (C.T.T.I) part of the Culture &
Tourism Ministry, in December 2005, with a Tour Guiding certificate.
While enrolled at university, I pursued many courses that could help me
in my marketing & tour guiding/tour operation assignments. I
speak Amharic, fluent English, & elementary German. I have a
certificate in computer software application and a second degree
driving license. My interpersonal skills are excellent.
A fortunate change in my work circumstances gave me the opportunity to
become a tour guide, a career which I have now pursued since 2006. I
have worked as a tour guide, tour operator, tour manager and tour
department head of personnel. Such wide experience has helped me gain
various related skills and now allows me to handle clients in a
flexible, friendly and professional way. Though I have found my
vocation within this job, I am not complacent and am learning every day.
